The service was going well when prior to the sermon, a passage from Ezekiel 22 was read. What an odd choice of scripture.
Then when the pastor flashed out the satay sticks, I gradually began to feel sleepy.
hahahaha I know I know It’s not satay but the Chinese word for Sin.
I thought maybe it was my short sleep, or woke too early or the calm environment or even that the sermon was in Mandarin that gave me a mental exercise in translating, that made me feel sleepy during sermon. But right after the pastor has ended the sleepiness went!
Haven’t had this sleepiness for the longest time. Sin is a topic of great concern for God that He gave His only Son to die on the cross, to bear our sins. And thus this sleepiness I felt is really a demonic attack. For the guy to the left of me too was nodding off.
I wanted to ask the stranger to my right for some sweets to keep awake. I manage to stay awake to capture the essence of the message.
One jarring moment was told of an incident 10 years ago, her friend’s 16 year old daughter was murdered, stuffed in a box by her boyfriend. And while the mom was frantically searching for her after reported missing, this boyfriend can pretend to look for her with the mom. Result of sin. We may not murder nor commit adultery. But what about jealousy, envy, gossip etc. Jesus says if you hate your brother you have already murdered.
i proceeded to head home thereafter and nap right past lunch hour meditating on 罪.
Maybe it wasn’t an attack but just sleepiness. Nevertheless it’s too much of a coincidence.
