Three whole years I lived with a fibre cable that is joint with an adapter that’s exposed to sun rain moon wind and birds.
This time the repair guy did a great job by professionally fusing the fibre cable together, sheath it, wire bind it and hide it from the elements with the rest of the wires.
I’ve always thought the disconnect was a login problem but it turns out
- The router will not be red if fibre if connected with incorrect login.
- That means all these while when it turned red. It was the fibre giving issue and not an internal network issue.
- Fusing the fibre was so delicate. Taking for granted all my devices are connected via a single strand of transparent glass.
- The unifi router has 3 different logins. Login to router. Login to unifi. Login to VOIP and GPON which require service men to be on site. Also may explain why we can’t just replace the unifi router with 3rd party ones. 3rd party wifi mesh systems ok, but not the modem router.
Last point is if neighbour has a wire crossing over your property, you can complain them to reroute it. I didn’t mind the wires but birds have been perching on it leaving their “trails” behind.
